In this edition of our “Meet the Team” series, we catch up with Aftab Vellani, Head of Finance at BC SoftWear. He’s been with us for 6 years, starting in the Accounts Department, and has grown into a role that touches almost every part of the business. From managing accounts to overseeing operations, logistics, IT, and HR, Aftab keeps our team running like a well-oiled machine.

“I officially manage the Accounts Department — a close-knit team of two, including myself. But over the last year I am also involved with back end operations which means if it’s Logistics, IT, HR, or building maintenance, it’s probably on my desk!”

Behind the Scenes of Finance

Aftab’s role might be behind the scenes, but it’s absolutely central to keeping BC SoftWear running smoothly.

“If something breaks, glitches, or just won’t cooperate, I’m usually the one people call. From IT issues to building maintenance or logistics challenges, I try to make sure the rest of the team can focus on their work without distractions.”

Every day brings a new challenge — from managing accounts to coordinating operations, Aftab ensures the team has everything they need to succeed.

“It’s busy, constantly moving, but it’s really satisfying to keep everything running and support the whole operation.”

A Day Full of Variety

No two days are the same for Aftab. A typical morning might start with checking accounts, then moving on to logistics, IT troubleshooting, or HR queries.

“Every day is different — that variety is what I love most about working here. You never know what’s coming next, and that keeps things interesting.”

It’s a role that demands flexibility, calm under pressure, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed.

“No thanks! I like what I do, and I think I already wear enough hats. But I do enjoy seeing how all the pieces of the business come together — it’s rewarding to know I help make that happen.”

“I attended a 10-day meditation retreat and observed ‘golden silence’ — no talking, reading, TV, phone, or communication with the world. Surprisingly, I survived!”
