Sustainability Policy

Environmental & Sustainability Policy

At BC SoftWear, we embrace our responsibility to the environment as a fundamental aspect of our business ethos. Committed to eco-friendly practices, we actively work towards minimising our ecological footprint, demonstrating our dedication to sustainable development in every aspect of our operations. This policy reflects our ongoing journey towards a greener, more sustainable future.

Definition of Sustainability

For BC SoftWear, sustainability means operating in a manner that meets current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs, focusing on environmental, social, and economic aspects.

BC SoftWear envisions a future where luxury and sustainability are synonymous, leading the textile industry to a greener, more conscientious future.

We aim to embed sustainable practices across our entire value chain, including product development, manufacturing, distribution and end-of-life recycling, ensuring every action taken contributes positively to our environmental goals.

Policy Objectives and Targets

Carbon Footprint and Reduction:

  • Begin comprehensive carbon footprint measurements by 2024.
  • Develop a strategic carbon reduction plan to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2030, if not before.

Waste Management and Recycling:

  • Uphold and increase the elimination of 80 tonnes+ of single-use plastics annually from the distribution of our products.
  • Collaborate with up-cycling companies to transform footwear and textile waste into new products, supporting a circular economy.

Sustainable Sourcing and Supply Chain:

  • Maintain and enhance our sustainable procurement policy, ensuring ongoing compliance with environmental standards.

Product Innovation and Efficiency:

  • Continue to invest in research and development to create or source fully biodegradable options for a range of products, minimising environmental impact at the end of product life, as well as textiles which have genuine energy savings in the laundry environment.
  • Conduct comprehensive Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) for all products to identify and mitigate environmental impacts throughout their life cycle, from raw material sourcing to disposal.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Further transition our delivery fleet to electric vehicles, and continue the shift towards more sustainable transportation methods.
  • Sustain the use of electric forklifts in our warehouse, constantly seeking ways to improve energy efficiency.

Sustainability Education and Engagement:

  • Build on our programmes to raise environmental awareness among employees and encourage sustainable practices.
  • Strengthen employee participation in our company-wide sustainability efforts.

Community and Industry Leadership:

  • Proactively engage in partnerships that support broader sustainability goals.
  • Lead by example, sharing our successes and learning within the industry to promote widespread environmental responsibility.

Reporting Method

We will conduct annual reviews and reports on our sustainability progress to ensure continual improvement and transparency.

Commitment from Leadership

The leadership team of BC SoftWear fully endorses this policy and pledges to integrate these commitments into our business strategy, operations, and culture.

As BC SoftWear embarks on this journey of environmental stewardship and sustainable innovation, we recognise that our commitment extends beyond our own operations to the global community and future generations.

This policy is a living document, reflecting our ongoing dedication to environmental responsibility and continuous improvement. We pledge to regularly review and update our practices, ensuring they not only comply with current standards but also set new benchmarks in sustainable business practices.

Together, we will create a more sustainable future, rooted in the principles of preservation, innovation, and responsibility.
